Finding and Creating Community

As the New Moon marks the beginning of another lunar cycle, it’s the perfect time to set intentions for building and strengthening our communities. This week, we’ll focus on the importance of connection and how we can reflect on what matters most to us in our communities.

Community is a cornerstone of human connection. Whether it’s for personal support, professional collaboration, or simply sharing joys and challenges, the relationships we nurture play a vital role in our growth. When looking for community or building one yourself, reflect on the qualities you value in your connections and what you wish to cultivate—kindness, understanding, inspiration, whatever is important to you. By setting clear intentions for the type of circles you want to build or strengthen, you lay the foundation for meaningful and strong relationships.

In today’s world, which feels increasingly uncertain (and let’s be honest, it’s been scary for a while), staying connected is more important than ever. Ensuring that the people in our lives build us up and reciprocate the love and care we give them helps to create relationships that last.

Tarot Guidance

The Three of Cups offers a vision of deep friendship and love, encouraging us to embrace the power of connection. This card reminds us that true community isn’t about proximity or quantity but quality and alignment. Who in your life feels like a kindred spirit? Who brings joy and shared purpose into your world?

This week, let the Three of Cups inspire you to reach out to those people. Celebrate your bonds, explore opportunities for collaboration, or simply express gratitude for the role they play in your life. Community doesn’t have to be formal—it’s found in the small moments of joy and togetherness. Nurture those relationships with intention and care.

Astrological Influences

The 11th house in your natal chart governs friendships, collective endeavors, and aspirations. Take time this week to examine which sign and planets occupy your 11th house. Does your chart suggest a need for expansive, adventurous friendships, or more intimate, grounding connections? Reflect on how your hopes align with the groups and people you’re drawn to.

Jupiter’s placement offers insight into how you naturally grow and connect with others. Does your Jupiter encourage you to take the lead in forming networks or to contribute quietly through wisdom and insight? Understanding these aspects can help you approach community-building with authenticity and confidence.

If you’re not sure what your placements mean, I recently found a GPT that did a really good job of explaining how my Jupiter and 11th house placements worked together to guide my work with communities. Obviously it doesn’t replace a real astrologer, but it works in a pinch!

Questions to ask yourself this week:
How can I approach building a support network with openness and curiosity? What inspires me to continue cultivating a supportive and uplifting community?

As we set these intentions during the New Moon, remember that relationships take time and care to grow. This week is about planting seeds for the support networks we need, with patience and purpose. Reflect on what you want in your community, and next week, we’ll explore actionable steps for aligning with these goals during the First Quarter Moon.

Wishing a Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate, I hope you’re able to enjoy your current communities and connections as we kickoff the holiday season. I also want to recognize that today is a National Day of Mourning for Native Americans, a time to honor Indigenous people and remember the painful history surrounding this holiday. Whether you spend today celebrating or reflecting, I’m sending you love and warmth. Cherish your community and I’ll see you again next week.
